The Owatonna Arts Center provides art classes, gallery shows, and concert and event space for the community. It is located in a Romanesque-style building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Before renovation, the building lacked an elevator and its facilities did not meet crucial accessibility requirements. BKV Group worked with community members to plan an architecturally sensitive new addition. This new space addressed those needs while also providing an expanded entry, additional gallery space, and an exterior plaza for art shows and events. The addition was thoughtfully designed to complement the existing historic structure. The new design also accommodated the Owatonna Arts Center’s growing need to provide education programs.
