Justice Practice Leader and Partner, Henry Pittner, has observed countless older county jails that have had little investment since opening their doors. In response, Henry has created a program known as the BKV Group Rural Jail Initiative which integrates a modern correctional public safety facility with a community health clinic.

In what will be known as a Health and Public Safety Center, the co-location of uses creates cost-savings and provides “higher quality care to both the general public and jail population, while becoming part of a continuum of care facilitating inmates’ transition from the jail to life in the community.”
