In the Mid-Atlantic outlet of Engineering News-Record (ENR), BKV and our developer partner, Post Brothers, had our mixed-use project in Philadelphia, One Thousand One, showcased in a construction innovation article.

The project, when completed, will include nearly 1,500 residences, making it one of the largest residential projects underway in the United States. Even more impressive, as the article details, the project has surged ahead despite facing potential labor shortages and significant costs related to conventional concrete construction. Senior Design Leader and Development Managing Partner, Jack Boarman, spoke to ENR about how the BKV team “devised a solution that allowed it to use a cold-formed, panelized building system with cross-braced bearing walls rather than a conventional concrete structure to meet its needs. By using that system, the project is able to save potential costs by lightening the structure while reducing labor demands on-site through the use of panels that are fabricated off-site.”
