A Landmark Reimagined — and Recognized!

In late April, BKV Group’s Senior Design Leader and Partner, Willy Bermudez, was joined by our design partner, Design Collective, Inc., and our client partner, Carmel Partners, at the annual ULI Washington’s awards ceremony where our team was honored with the 2026 Adaptive Reuse Award for our work on Annex on 12th.

This recognition celebrates the power of thoughtful transformation — breathing new life into an iconic, federal structure while creating a vibrant new residential destination for Washington, DC. This project was more than preservation — it’s innovation, sustainability, and city-building at its best, and we’re proud to help shape places that honor their past while boldly serving the future.
