Winning Gold in Firehouse Magazine’s Annual Station Design Awards

BKV Group received a Gold Award for the design of  LEED Gold Certified Short Pump Fire House 19 in Henrico, County, Va. Firehouse Magazine announced the award Nov. 1 as part of the publication’s 2018 Station Design Awards. The design took top honors in the satellite station category.

Fire House 19 provides full-time staff with 12 dorm rooms and three drive-through apparatus bays. The project is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, with focus on long-term energy efficiency and the quality of the interior environment for the firefighters. The exterior of the building is styled in harmony with the surrounding homes.

About the Award
Firehouse Magazine’s annual 2018 Station Design Awards recognize outstanding architecture and design in fire departments nationwide. The magazine names gold, silver, and bronze award winners in six categories. Winning designs were selected by a five-judge panel. Members of the panel included a deputy chief, fire marshal, two architects, and a fire engineer/architect with experience design.
