JOb desCRIPTION

BKV Group seeks a strategic Managing Partner and collaborative thought leader to lead our Government Practice in Chicago, IL, with an emphasis leading our Justice projects including County Courthouses and Detention facilities.  This position reports directly to our CEO and collaborates with fellow Managing Partners, Practice Leaders, and Directors of Business Development.  With an extensive background as a well-rounded architect and leader in all aspects of design and documentation, our Managing Partner is responsible for project design and planning, client leadership, and marketing our services regionally and nationally.

  • Project Design and Planning: Fully understand client goals and objectives and develop a plan to successfully execute their vision.  Lead and collaborate on the conceptual planning and design of the project working in conjunction with the project team.  Elevate our design teams’ individual and unique skillsets, experiences, and talents to optimize solutions.
  • Client Leadership/Management: Work in a client leadership capacity as the main point of contact.  Collaborate with the client and Project Manager to develop the project scope, schedule, and budget.  Monitor, with the Project Manager at regular intervals, the progression of the project status in meeting the client’s project needs including a review of the established scope/schedule/budget, and an assessment of potential additional services.
  • Marketing Services: Research target markets and competitors and identify prospects with support from the Business Development and Marketing Team (assisting across all BKV practice sites, with an emphasis on IL, MI, WI, IN, IA, & MO).  Develop and nurture relationships with potential and existing clients.  Create messaging for marketing content, proposals, and interviews with the marketing team.
  • Mentoring: Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working environment with the project team.  Mentor planning and design staff on programming and planning topics.  Mentor more experienced staff on project management, technical matters, and business development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in architecture preferred.
  • Licensed and registered Architect preferred.
  • 20+ years’ progressive project experience and leadership on complex projects including relevant experience the Justice sector related to courthouses and detention facilities.
  • Strong Revit, Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Certification or experience in sustainable building design a plus.
  • Proven fiscal accountability and responsibility, and an understanding of market forces pertaining to fees, scope and schedule requirements.
