BKV Group is seeking a talented Project Architect II to join our Civic & Justice Practice. The ideal candidate has a passion for high quality public design, a positive, collaborative work style, and well-rounded architectural experience in all aspects of design and documentation with specific experience in civic or justice projects.
About the Position
Our studio offers a convenient downtown Chicago location at the historic Rookery Building, pleasant work environment, great clients and projects, state-of-the-art computers and software, and an award-winning portfolio of Civic & Justice projects including Fire, Police, Village Halls, Courthouses, and Jails.
At BKV Group you will be part of collaborative, multi-disciplinary, research oriented team that focuses on creating facilities that foster human health and the human+nature relationship as essential to the overall wellbeing of the staff working in their facilities. Our in-house disciplines include architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and a high performance engineering team including energy services.
BKV Group’s Public Safety Practice Leader and Justice Practice Leader are based in Chicago and have national credentials with work across the county on exciting projects. Along with their award winning work, both speak nationally at annual conferences and are frequent contributing authors to industry publications. The ideal candidate for this opportunity will have a well-rounded architectural experience in all aspects of design and documentation with 5 to 8+ years specific experience in civic or justice projects, is passionate about great public design, and enjoys preparing project documentation including functional and spatial requirements, design, specifications, materials, color, and equipment selection.
The individual selected for this opportunity will work directly with Project Managers and Senior Project Architects to develop breakthrough ideas and creative solutions focused project design. You will be responsible for working with senior design and technical staff translating direction from project design and management leads into conceptual, schematic and design development packages, and moving into the production of construction documents. The work doesn’t stop with the documents – you will see the project through construction supporting the construction administration team to help monitor compliance with the project plans.
The candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Professional Registration is required with a professional degree (M.Arch or B.Arch) from an accredited design program
- 5 to 8+ years direct experience in all aspects of architectural design and documentation with specific Civic/Justice experience in Fire, Police, Village Hall, Courthouse, Jails, etc.
- Experience using Revit and Microsoft Office Suite
