Residence Hall Master Plan

The Southwest Minnesota State University Residence Hall Predesign compared design options for remodeling ten existing residence hall buildings vs. phased demolition of the existing structures and construction of new residence halls. The process began with detailed assessments of seven residence halls and three commons buildings to determine their condition relative to current building codes, accessibility requirements, mechanical and electrical systems, roof and exterior building envelope. Site plans, floor plans, and room types were developed for the Phase I new residence hall and sites for future residence halls were identified. Sustainable/green building goals were identified and should be implemented in the new facilities.
