FloCo Fusion Student Apartments
FloCo Fusion is a contemporary 84-unit student apartment building designed as part of a redevelopment incorporating our renovation of the Historic Florence Court Apartments.
Located near the University of Minnesota campus, FloCo Fusion uses recessed building sections clad in clear anodized metal divided into three distinctive masses. As it approaches Historic Florence Court’s L-shaped building and two-story homes, it steps from six stories to four stories to compliment the existing structures. FloCo Fusion also mirrors Florence Court through its individual walk-up entrances at grade-level, which are slightly elevated from the street.
The prize feature of the entire development is the interior courtyard commons. The team repaved the old drive with cobblestones and allowed it to pass through the new building, which maintains its historic route and creates a unique design for the entire space.
The interior environments and materials of the common areas reflect the vibrant and active lifestyles of the students who live in FloCo. An eclectic use of materials, colors, plantings, and furniture choices invigorate the community spaces, giving the project a boutique sense of style.
